Collective agreement ensures respect

A member of the Kerch Primary Organization of the Seafarers' Union of Russia, Grigory Chuprina, was able to see it by himself. 

He worked as a watch officer on board MV BBC Kibo, covered by the collective agreement signed by the German trade union Ver.di. 

Certain events at his home required his return. So, he had to apply to the employer with a request for early signing off due to family circumstances, in accordance with relevant provisions of the collective agreement. 

The shipowner arranged repatriation of the seafarer from the nearest appropriate port - Singapore, in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement. 

- I would like to emphasize the good attitude of the Briese company towards the crew and the cooperation of SUR with colleagues from Ver.di in providing assistance to seafarers, - Grigory Chuprina said.
