No complaints

Technical Labor Inspector of the Black and Azov Seas Territorial Organization of the Seafarers' Union of Russia Evgeny Bangert visited the tanker Belgorod, moored at the port of Novorossiysk, with inspection of working conditions of the crew.

He noted that the vessel, which frequently changes its name, is now in good condition. Everything is fine with the working conditions on board either: at least, the crew members do not complain.

The crew consists of 24 Russian seafarers. "They welcomed our visit, but were a bit reserved with us," - Bangert added.

As evidenced in practice, all seafarers are different: some of them don't even know their rights. The SUR believe that the only guarantee of effective protection of the legal rights of maritime workers is a collective agreement.

The SUR BASTO Technical Labor Inspector reminded that visiting ships at ports with inspection of working conditions on board is the most important task of the Seafarers' Union of Russia: “We try to meet with crew members as often as possible so that they know their rights and join the union.”
