A meeting of the Youth Council of the Seafarers' Union of Russia was held in Moscow on September 10-11. Representatives of SUR Territorial Organizations from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol and Kaliningrad discussed current organizational issues and outlined a work plan for the near future.
In addition, the participants exchanged experiences and discussed topics such as the motivation of cadets (students) to join trade unions and setting up workshop organizations in maritime educational institutions. As part of the implementation of the SUR Strategy for a Just Transition in the programs for sustainable development in the maritime industry of the Russian Federation until 2030, the action group drafted a work plan for 2024-2025. Besides, the need to continue effective social dialogue so that the rights and interests of seafarers are taken into account when applying new technologies in the maritime industry of the Russian Federation was emphasized.
The participants of the SUR Youth Council meeting developed the Regulations for the writing competition "From the Shore to the Horizon" to discover and promote young talents among SUR members. Its start will be announced later. Kirill Novoselov, senior lecturer of the Department of Electrical Equipment and Automation of Ships of the Maritime Institute, was elected Chairman of the SUR Youth Council, and Evgeniya Krasnoshtan, SUR Instructor, was elected his Deputy.
