Seaman thanked the Seafarers' Union of Russia for prompt assistance

Thanks to the intervention of the Seafarers' Union of Russia, the employer paid sick leave and refunded a crew member of MV Elka Appollon the costs of medicines.

According to the seafarer, he suffered a burn while welding work, which then developed into a phlegmon. There were no problems with medical treatment: the crew member was duly operated, he spent some time in the hospital, but he didn't receive a sick pay. Then the Russian seafarer turned to the Seafarers' Union of Russia for assistance.

For its part, the Seafarers' Union of Russia held negotiations with the shipowner and agreed the payment to the seafarer USD 1,200, which included the sick pay for July and the costs of medicines. As for the sick pay for August, the company promised to pay it a bit later. The seafarer contacted the Union again, this time to thank them for their prompt assistance.
