Inspection revealed no problems on board MV Azzaro

Labor Inspector of the Seafarers' Union of Russia (SUR) Rodion Sukhorukov visited MV Azzaro (IMO 9213727, flag of Antigua and Barbuda) at the port of St. Petersburg.

He was met by a mixed crew of Russians and Filipinos. There were all required documents available  on board the vessel: the crew members  had individual contracts and had not any complaints about the working conditions. In addition,  MV Azzaro was in good condition - at least, the Union Inspector did not find any problems.

There is a collective agreement on board, it is signed by the Latvian union,  he noted. -The wage level matches the wage scale in the agreement. The seafarers themselves confirmed that there are no problems with payments — they get money on time. Overtime is also paid in full. The Russian crew members noted that they are satisfied with the working conditions on board the vessel.

Rodion Sukhorukov added that he managed to talk to the seafarers about the protection of their rights if there are issues. Though the vessel is covered by the collective agreement, which is indeed a reliable protection during the voyage, he still advised Russian seafarers to join the SUR membership in a bid to insure additional advocacy, their own peace of mind and the peace of mind of their families.

— Overall, the inspection on board MV Azzaro left a positive impression: it is clear that the shipowner is responsible in fulfilling his duties, — the SUR Labor Inspector concluded.
