A seafarer who fell ill during an expedition returned home

The family of the seafarer thanked the Seafarers' Union of Russia for assistance in his signing-off from MV "Lagart".

Recall, that the mother of the crew member of MV "Lagart" contacted the Primary Organization of Vladivostok of the Seafarers' Union of Russia and told that her son was being on a Bering Sea expedition and needed qualified medical treatment on shore. According to her, the seafarer was stung by a jellyfish - his hands began to swell, and he started having kidney problems. Relatives were concerned about his life and health.

The Union contacted the management of the company located in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky with a request to assist with signing-off of the sick seafarer from the vessel ashore. The HR director assured that the crew member received full treatment on board and has no health complaints. The company also confirmed that a replacement would take place at the first opportunity. The Union passed this information on to the family.

Despite this, a month later the seafarer was still on board the vessel. The Chairman of the SUR Primary Organization of Vladivostok Petr Osichansky contacted the company's management again to get clear why nothing had been done. It turned out that a sea transport craft could not approach the vessel "Lagart" due to the severe ice conditions.

However, the company noted that the situation was gradually improving, and the seafarer would be disembarked in Ossora. And so it happened. Immediately after the seafarer returned home, his family informed the Union and thanked the SUR Primary Organization of Vladivostok for maintaining control over the situation.
