Seafarers' trade union named the winners of the "Off the Watch" photo contest

On the International Day of the Seafarer, June 25, the shop trade union organization of the Primary Organization of Vladivostok of the Seafarers' Union of Russia summarized the results of the annual "Off the Watch" photo contest, and the Chairman of the SUR Primary Organization of Vladivostok Petr Osichansky congratulated the winners and participants.

150 photographs from 16 SUR members were submitted for the contest selection. The prize winners were cadets of the 11th company of Faculty of Navigation and Radio Communications: Vladislav Kozlov, Vadim Kasyanov and Matvey Kuzmin. They received cash prizes from the Primary Organization of Vladivostok of the Seafarers' Union of Russia. The winner, Vladislav Kozlov, made a staged shot especially for the contest on the final day of acceptance of photographs.

The jury argued for a long time about what exactly was depicted in the photograph - an anchor, bone, wood, bamboo, and finally they realized it was an umbrella handle. "A Piece of Watermelon" by Vadim Kasyanov also stood out: it looked like a scarlet sail against the background of the blue sea, and was very consistent with the name of the contest.

Third place went to Matvey Kuzmin and his "A Living Icebreaker with Eyes and Teeth", which the jury mistook for a tugboat at first. It should be noted that no one was left without consolation prizes - all contestants were given certificates, gifts from the university, and photographs of the "Home Port Vladivostok" project from the university museum collection.

The award ceremony also honoured active members of the shop trade union organization, including the cadet of the 12th company of the Faculty of Navigation and Radio Communications, Deputy Chairman of the shop trade union organization of the Primary Organization of Vladivostok of the Seafarers' Union of Russia, a member of the SUR Youth Council Daniil Slinkov, the cadet of the 11th company of the Faculty of Navigation and Radio Communications Maxim Dobrunov and the cadet of the 52nd company of the Marine Engineering College Ruslan Balykin. They received certificates of Event Organizers and gifts from the Far Eastern Association of Sea Captains.
