Salaries for seafarers should be paid on time and in full

The crew of the m/v RN Privodino thanked the Seafarers' Union Russia for their assistance, through which their received $40,000 of their back wages. The fact is that when the vessel was transferred under a new management and then changed the name and the flag, its crew were not paid salaries for work on board from April to mid-May 2024.

Having examined their employment contracts and the collective agreement that was in force before the vessel was transferred to the operational management of the new company, SUR pointed out to the management an indisputable fact - the crew's work must be paid. Only then, the company made a final settlement, and the Russian seafarers confirmed that they had received the money.

SUR reminds: wages to maritime workers must be paid on time and in full regardless of the change of name, flag, or management of the vessel.
