FETO SUR and Stolt Tankers B.V. will continue cooperation in 2024

According to its website, the Far Eastern Territorial Organization of the Seafarers' Union of Russia (FETO SUR) and the shipping company Stolt Tankers will continue cooperation in protecting seafarers' rights in 2024.

It is known that the trade union and the employer agreed to increase the wages of Russian seafarers. Thus, the salary of an AB Seaman will be $2,240, and that of a captain will be about $15,000. The changes also affected the insurance amount in case of a crew member's death while on a voyage: it will be $119,000. The insurance payment in case of disability as a result of an accident on board a vessel has also been increased significantly. For example, for senior officers - up to $190,000 in case of total disability. Moreover, a bonus payment for continuous work experience on board of this Norwegian company's vessels will be increased by $100 every year. “But this is not all that is provided for in the collective agreement. Senior officers are paid monthly from $500 to $1,400 while on leave. Stolt Tankers B.V. has its own pension program — seafarers can receive savings upon retirement age,” - FETO SUR noted.

In addition, when working in warlike or high risk for piracy areas, the crew members will receive doubled insurance sum and a bonus in the amount of 100% basic rate. The agreement stipulates that every seafarer must be warned in advance about a planned voyage to a dangerous region and has the right to refuse a voyage without the risk of losing a job in the company’s fleet.

Let us remind that the Norwegian shipping company Stolt Tankers B.V. operates the world's largest fleet of chemical tankers, which consists of 163 vessels, including more than 70 units of a specialized fleet. Seafarers' Union of Russia and Stolt Tankers B.V. have been social partners for over 25 years.
