Petr Osichansky, President of the Far Eastern Shipmasters' Association and Chairman of the Primary Organization of Vladivostok of the Seafarers' Union of Russia took part in a lecture on “Social and labor relations management in ship crews” at the Faculty of Navigation and Radio Communications of Maritime State University named after Admiral. G.I. Nevelskoy. He shared his knowledge and experience with future navigators - second and third year cadets and soon-to-be marine engineers.
The main part of his message Petr Osichansky devoted to the Maritime Labor Convention and backed theory with cases from his vast captain’s experience and long trade union work.
“We got a chance to talk with the cadets about the challenges and tasks of social partnership, to consider the advantages of having a collective agreement on board the vessel, to clarify issues concerning the maximum length of voyage and many more,” - Osichansky said. Also, among the topics discussed at the lecture was signing of international conventions, and the Chairman of SUR Primary Organization of Vladivostok told the cadets about the prerequisites and the background of the International Labor Organization.
At the end of the meeting, Petr Ivanovich thanked the lecturer of the discipline “Social and labor relations management in ship crews”, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Eugenia Burtseva for the opportunity to meet with future seafarers and expressed hope that such events would become a good tradition.
