Seafarers' salaries to rise again in 2023

The salary level for the ratings working for SCF Group will be increased once more from this September.

According to  SCF TM, a crewing division of Sovcomflot, the increase in salaries will affect pumpmen, fitters, boatswains, cooks, motormen and seamen and will range from 4 to 12%. They also noted that the next increase in wages for seafarers is scheduled for January 2024.

Last time SCF raised the salaries of seafarers a year ago. Then the increase ranged from 2% to 6% for officers and from 8% to 13% for ratings. At the same time, the company increased the cost of catering for ship crews and reduced contract terms to four months for all positions. In addition, the employer fully compensates seafarers the cost of pre-employment medical examination, rewards them for performance, and implements corporate pension programs for all fleet workers.

All this is done to retain the unique talent pool of the SCF Group. Today, its workforce totals over 6000 qualified seafarers. Despite the Western sanctions imposed in 2022, the company continues to uphold its leading position  among domestic energy shipping  companies. SCF Group  regularly  replenishes its fleet with new vessels built at Russian shipyards and man them with entirely Russian crews.
Each job means a high level of safety, stable employment, decent wages that comply with the regulations of the international maritime industry, and career prospects at a modern fleet.
