"FESCO always pays salaries on time, even in the most challenging periods"

This is the first thing Sergey Shevchenko (on photo) heard when in 2007 he got a job at the Far Eastern Shipping Company as a Second Officer .

Since then he has worked on most types of the company's vessels: containerships, bulk carriers, dry cargo carriers. Today he is the captain of the FESCO Diomid container ship. He has told why he loves his profession and the company where  he has been working for 15 years.

– As for someone born in Vladivostok, the choice of career was predetermined for me:  I linked my life with the sea almost without thinking.

FESCO Diomid is one of the flagships of the shipping company. The container ship is engaged in overseas  commercial shipping and delivers goods from the Chinese ports.

The captain explains that he likes work in the Merchant Fleet because of its orderliness, it gives purpose and meaning, and also stability and confidence in the future.

“Now the company is acquiring five new vessels, and this is a great career opportunity for many seafarers,” he notes.

His fellow crew members have added that last year the seafarers got a pay rise. Besides, all payments are reported, not  “under the table”, which means that everything is in order and in accordance with law concerning sick leave and pensions of the maritime workers. Also, the seafarers note that the shipping company is taking care of food. According to the seafarers, their ship’s cook is very good, and the quality of dishes is not inferior to the restaurant one.

The crew of the  FESCO Diomid is friendly, seafarers like their work.

FESCO is a long-standing social partner of the  Seafarers’ Union of Russia. All ships of the shipping company are covered by the collective agreement concluded with the SUR Primary  Organization at  PJSC FESCO, which is a guarantee of decent working conditions for Russian seafarers working in the company.

SUR adds that the company pays special attention to the fleet renewal program. “This is an important factor in improving the working conditions of seafarers,” - the trade union is sure.
