The SUR has concluded a new collective agreement with the FESCO

The SUR primary trade union organization of seafarers of PJSC FESCO of the and the Far Eastern Shipping Company have renegotiated the collective agreement of the IBF standard for ships operating under a foreign flag. The new agreement will be valid for two years - from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023.

The terms of the new contract apply to nine vessels of the company. In accordance with the IBF protocol, the wages of crewmembers increased by 3%. In addition, the social partners agreed to increase payments in case of disability by a seafarer or death during work.

«It is also assumed that the vessels that the shipping company will acquire during the validity period of the contract will also work under agreement», - Nikolay Zadoyanov noted.

In this regard, it should be noted that the FESCO is actively replenishing its fleet. One of the last vessels that the company has acquired is FS Ipanema, which also operates under an IBF agreement. In addition, it is known that the shipping company has acquired two more specialized vessels. Currently, one of them is under repair in Dubai but there are already crewmembers on board who will take it into operation. Three more vessels are expected to be accepted in the second half of the year.

The  Seafarers Union of Russia notes that the replenishment of the fleet is as important a factor in improving the working conditions of seafarers as an increase in wages. Meanwhile, the collective agreement and social partnership remain a guarantee of decent employment for the crewmembers of ships.

«The signing of the agreement testifies to the long-term cooperation between the FESCO and the SUR, which are making every effort to create comfortable working conditions for seafarers», - added Nikolay Zadoyanov.
