PTO SUR provided insurance for seafarers against ticks

The Pacific territorial organization of the Seafarers Union of Russia insured seafarers, residents of Sakhalin who are working on Sovcomflot’s, vessels under the «Stop Tick» program of the company Capital Life. As part of the pilot project, 83 crewmembers from the vessels SCF Endeavour, SCF Endurance and SCF Enterprise received insurance policies.

According to Valery Berezinskiy, the chairman of the PTO SUR, tick bites are a very urgent problem for Sakhalin residents, because many of them spend their free time hunting and fishing while on shore. As you know, some types of ticks pose a serious danger to humans, because they are carriers of encephalitis, borreliosis and other diseases.

Indeed, according to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, 49 regions of Russia are high – risk zones, and according to Russian agency for health and consumer’s rights, up to half a million Russians annually turn to medical institutions for help. The severity of the problem is determined by the possible death, disability, transition to a chronic form, as well as the high cost of treatment.

Valery Berezinskiy noted that Sakhalin’s seafarers are insured for one year, and the sum of insurance coverage per person is 500 thousand rubles.

The program «Stop Tick» includes a full range of care for tick bites and possible consequences such as outpatient, inpatient and rehabilitation and rehabilitation care. This includes consultation with specialists, tick removal, laboratory testing to identify pathogens, prescribing a course of antibiotics, emergency immunization, serological blood tests, observation, hospitalization, a set of medical procedures, etc.

It is important to add that the insured seafarers, members of the SUR, will be able to receive medical care not only on Sakhalin, but also throughout the country as this is provided for by the policy.
