The collective agreement with Azimut –Trans was extended

Recently, Taganrog’s primary trade union organization of seafarers of the SUR prolonged the collective agreement with the company Azimut-Trans, informed the chairman of the organization Leonid Glushak.

The agreement was signed for 2021-2022 for the m/v Volga-Balt-237. The vessel operates under the Russian flag in the Black Sea region. Crew consists of 11 seafarers, who are mainly manned from the Rostov region. Their working conditions are duly protected by the collective agreement.

SUR has been cooperating with Azimut-Trans for more than 10 years.

The company's management takes a responsible approach to its duties, complies with Russian legislation and strives to improve the working conditions of the crewmembers of the Volga-Balt-237. Even at the most acute moment of the pandemic, when almost all shipping companies faced problems in organizing the repatriation, Azimut-Trans continued to work», - mentioned Leonid Glushak.

The parties will return to the extension of the agreement in March 2022. It remains to add that there is another vessel owned by the company, 40 Let Pobedy (flag of Belize), as well operates between the ports of the Black Sea.

«For this ship, the SUR and the company extended the agreement last year. We are talking about a Black Sea collective agreement». It should be noted that this is a kind of unique agreement as while developing this agreement, the ITF took into account national employment characteristics and specific aspects of the service on board the vessels operates in the region. This involves low freight rates and inland navigation of river-sea vessels. The Black Sea agreement stipulates acceptable rates for seafarers and shipowners, and clearly indicates compensation for disability and death. «Due to a number of features of shipping in the region, it is very difficult to conclude agreements that give seafarers social guarantees. We're the only ones who can do it», - said Leonid Glushak.
