Novorossiysk Interclub reorganized its activity under pandemic restrictions
The International Seafarers Center summed up the results. Last year more than 2,300 seafarers of different nationalities used the services of the center - both in normal mode and remotely.
According to the administrator Witold Yatskevich, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions in terms of shore leave for foreign crewmembers, the center had to reorient its work to remote servicing of seafarers. So, in a short time, virtual excursions have gained popularity. The administrator sends a link to the ship's mail. «Thus, each member of the crew gets the opportunity to visit the tour at a convenient time for him. We have a large selection of various topics: historical stories about Peter the Great, the scientist Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev, the patriotic action "Beskozyrka" (Navy cut cap) in Novorossiysk, about famous palace in Petergof and its magnificent fountains, and much more. The library of video materials is constantly updated taking into account the wishes of the seafarers themselves, » - said Witold Yatskevich
In the offline mode, the interclub's activity last year was based on interaction with cadets, volunteers and chaplaincy services for crewmembers on ships, which is important, especially in the current situation. «In mixed crews, there is often a very difficult psychological situation, and the time spent on board imposes an additional negative imprint. Psychological difficulties for seafarers can begin after the first month of work. Not to mention contracts that can be extended for up to 12 months», - adds V. Yatskevich
