New book in the library of the International Maritime Club of Nakhodka

The library for seafarers of the International Maritime Club of Nakhodka has been replenished with a batch of books in English named «What are the rights of the seafarers working on ships under the flags of convenience». It examines in detail both the phenomenon of ships flying flags of convenience and the legal status of the crewmembers working on them.

«Often during ships visits, we see that some seafarers do not know much about their rights, and what pitfalls exist when working on vessel under the flags of convenience - said its author, chairman of the Far Eastern Territorial Organization of the Seafarers Union of Russia Nikolay Sukhanov. – So our organization decided to eliminate these gaps by publishing the material in Russian and English. Today we handed over a batch of copies for those seafarers who attended the International Maritime Club, so that as many crewmembers as possible know their rights and understand what to do in case of its violation».

The book consists of all existing legal documents concerning the rights of seafarers on ships under flags of convenience. The publication also summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of international legal regulation of the work of crewmembers and examines in detail the Maritime Labour Convention.

In addition, the Chairman of the FETO SUR and Director of the club Roman Ermakov discussed the organization of rest of seafarers in the port, providing them with vehicles to the club and back on board, as well as plans for joint work.
