To visit Novorossiysk or St. Petersburg without leaving the ship

Novorossiysk Interclub in quarantine period has prepared virtual sightseeing tours for seafarers.

About 500,000 seafarers during the COVID-19 pandemic remain on board of merchant ships beyond the normal duration of contracts. They are not allowed to disembark in foreign ports, receive qualified medical assistance, or return home. Many of them work for 10-16 months in a row.

«Realizing how difficult it is for them to perform hard work without communicating with the outside world, we decided to support the seafarers and launched virtual excursions for them on a variety of topics, – said the administrator of the Novorossiysk center Witold Yatskevich. Anyone can get them by e-mail, just send us your address and the topic you are interested in seamencentre@rambler.ru». Presentations on the themes "Modern Novorossiysk" and "Fountains of St. Petersburg" are already available in the Interclub gallery. In the near future, "Japan", "Montenegro" and "The Wrath of the Elements» will be added to them. The video with the works of Australian photographer Ray Collins is about to be completed. The administration of the center is open to new proposals and discussion of other interesting topics of video content for seafarers. Recall that in August, the International center for seafarers turned 12 years old. Today, the Interclub located on the Admiral Serebryakov embankment in Novorossiysk provides such facilities as  computers with Internet access, wi – fi, table football, a meeting room with the port chaplain, a bar, exercise equipment, billiards, and organization of excursions around the city and its surroundings. During the pre-quarantine period, the number of visits to the Novorossiysk Interclub annually amounted to more than 3,000 seafarers.
