The captain will be changed at the next port of call

Having visited the FW ADVENTURER (IMO 9749972, flag of Panama), the inspectors of the Kaliningrad regional organization of the Seafarers Union of Russia, together with representatives of the Port State Control, were once again convinced that if the vessel is covered by the ITF collective agreement, seafarers work well, because all working conditions, rest regime and payment of wages are observed.

Under the wing of the Chinese seafarers' Union, all 20 crewmembers of the FW ADVENTURER feel comfortable on board the new vessel built in 2019. The entire crew was recently changed, only the captain extended his nine-month contract for another 90 days, but so far the total duration of the voyage does not exceeds the requirements of the MLC

At the moment this is acceptable, - says labour inspector of  KRO SUR Petr Dzedzelyuk.

But if in total the period of all contracts of employment of the captain exceeds 11 months, this will be a violation of the MLC, and the shipowner in this case will receive an appropriate notice of comply. However, most likely, this will not happen as the captain is planned to be signed off from vessel in the next port of call.

The inspectors, as usual, did not leave the seafarers without gifts and handed them copies of the Maritime Union Gerald and the ITF publications.
