No debts but problems

The conflict occurred between the crew of m/v «Aktiv» and «Eastern Shipping Company» has been settled.

The seafarers have received their wages in total amount of 36 thousand dollars, the chairman of Far Eastern branch of SUR, Nikolay Sukhanov, reported. As the debt has been cleared off, the seafarers stopped their strike.

It was not long ago when the crew of m/v «Aktiv» applied to the Far Eastern branch of SUR and asked for support, as the seafarers had not been paid since august 2012. It was the chairman’s recommendation to take the matter to the court. In addition the seafarers being in despair decided to call a strike.

Luckily, the employer paid his debt and nobody had to deal with the court. The seafarers expressed their gratitude in a letter sent to Nikolay Sukhanov.

But the chief lawyer of SUR Valeri Nefedov notes though money was paid there is still a lot of illegality concerning retirement insurance, accident insurance, professional illnesses insurance and other cases on board the vessel.
