To understand the ITF policy

A workshop conference “The ITF and the campaign against the flags of convenience” has taken place in Kaliningrad. More preciously, it was a seminar organized by the Seafarers Union of Russia (Moscow) and by the ITF Inspection at the port of Kaliningrad. The theme caught the interests of major crewing agencies in Kaliningrad, as well as the representatives of shipping companies covered by the ITF agreements: the representative of "Baltic Group International", the Atlantic Branch of the Shirshov P.P. Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the representative of «Misje Reederi", the "Rechdan" shipping company, the maritime Agency " RusAm ", the shipping agency “Severniy Put`” (" Northern Way "), the company " SKOV Shipping".

The seminar was chaired by Vadim Ivanov, a Deputy Chairman for Foreign Affairs of the Seafarers Union of Russia (SUR). There were also engaged Mamontov Vadim, the ITF Inspector in the port of Kaliningrad and Bevzyuk Alexander, a representative of the Kaliningrad branch of SUR.

The participants listened to the reports on the history of the ITF Campaign, on different types of the ITF collective agreements and rules of the execution, and received answers to all questions concerning the international forums, where shipowners and trade unions were trying to reach an agreement.

Way of providing such an extensive and comprehensive information on the aims and methods of the ITF policy is the first of its kind in Kaliningrad and, of course, it will be the basis for the next conference, with much more wide range of interesting questions.

In the end, the crewing companies, shipowners and seafarers' unions altogether built the maritime community.
